4 Days + 3 Nights

Aug 8-11th, 2024

Ouray, Colorado

finally, a marriage retreat YOU BOTH can get psyched about!

The Schedule:

  • TRAVEL DAY! The little town of Ouray sits within the heart of the San Juan mountains, about an hours drive from Telluride. To get to Ouray, you can typically fly into Montrose Regional Airport and then drive 40 minutes towards the mountains. The town is an incredible rock climbing destination with various routes catering to climbers of all skill levels. The diverse terrain, stunning scenery, and challenging climbs make Ouray an epic summer climbing area. Please plan on getting to town by sometime in the late afternoon/early evening on the first day (Check into camp starts is at 4 pm). Starting at 5pm, we’ll have some chill top ropes set up at a local crag that’s just down the road from camp for anybody wanting jump on the rock right away after checking into their tent! Once everyone has arrived to the crag, we’ll order pizzas and throw a welcome dinner so we can all get to know each other and do a little orientation for the trip.

  • Our goal for the first full day will be to get warmed up to the style of outdoor climbing in the San Juans. We will split into small groups depending on individuals' experience and interests and head to the crags with Basecamp Ouray. Ratios of guides to climbers will be kept low at 4:1 the whole trip so folks can all work on specific goals or head up on a multi-pitch . We’ll celebrate an epic day of climbing with dinner and guest speakers around the campfire.

  • After a full day of climbing, we fully expect folks to feel a little tired. We’ll give those fingers a break and spend the morning hitting a few chill canyons with our buds Canyoning Colorado. After rapping down some sic waterfalls with them, feel free to soak in the local Hot Springs. The Hotsprings are a great way to relax and recover. In the evening, you’ll have the option to try one of the Via Ferrata’s, go out for a private climbing sesh or try a multipitch!

  • We will check out of camp take some 4x4’s over the pass to Telluride. We’ll head to a beautiful sunset crag on that side that is 4x4 access only for our last night of climbing. Optional Via Ferrata is also accessible at this crag for any couples who want to try!

Hotsprings:

Soaking in the hot springs in Ouray after climbing is like giving your body a well-deserved treat. After pushing your physical limits on the rock, immersing yourself in the soothing warmth of the hot springs is very therapeutic. The mineral-rich waters work wonders on tired muscles, easing away the aches and pains that can follow challenging climbs, while the serene atmosphere allows your mind to unwind and your spirit to rejuvenate. It's a moment of pure relaxation amidst the rugged beauty of the Colorado landscape, a chance to reflect on your achievements and recharge for the adventures yet to come!

Scenic Via Ferrata’s:

If you’ve never tried a Via Ferrata, this area has so many great opportunities to hop on an iron latter route! There are 3 scenic routes in Ouray and one in Telluride to try! Like rock climbing, and Canyoning, Via Ferrata’s are the perfect fusion of adventure and awe-inspiring natural beauty.

From the adrenaline rush of navigating exposed ledges to the sense of accomplishment as you conquer each challenging section, a via ferrata offers a new thrill of adrenaline for even the seasoned rock climber.

Campfires & Guest Speakers:

After our first full day of climbing, we’ll be winding down the night around the campfire with dank-itty DANK marriage councilor, guest speaker and author of Waking up in Marriage, Bill O’Herron.  Bill is the shizz and is stoked to share his passions for Mawwiage and the art of maintaining an exciting one!
